Founded in 1977, and based on research started at the MIT Media Lab, E Ink is the leading provider of electronic paper display (EPD) technologies. These bi-stable displays use the company's patented "ink" that is made up of tiny capsules filled with negatively charged black particles and positively charged white particles. The display is changed by changing the voltage field across each capsule (or pixel), which stays in that state until the field is changed again. E Ink's technology is intended for use in many consumer and industrial applications spanning eBooks, other handheld devices, watches, clocks, and public information displays and promotional signs. www.eink.com
